Teresa K. Howard
Associate Attorney
Teresa grew up in the agricultural community of Mulvane, KS. Teresa was born into an average middle-class family. Her father was an insurance adjuster for 30 years. Teresa would travel with her father during the summers to properties where people had lost many, if not all, of their worldly possessions due to any number of harrowing life events. Her mother was a stay-at-home mom who worked taking care of the family during the day and attended college courses at night to eventually earn an undergraduate and graduate degree. The example Teresa’s parents set for her blessed her with two major life lessons. First, to do anything well you have to work hard at it. Second, treat people kindly, as we all have burdens to carry.
Teresa met her husband, Richard Howard, while visiting a college friend that had recently gotten married and moved to Texas. Richard and Teresa were married within 10 months and have been married for over 35 years now. They welcomed a son and a daughter along the way.
Teresa earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English in 1989 from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX. She worked for Wal-Mart for eight years rising to the ranks of middle-management in the Internal Audit Department during that time. She resigned from Walmart to become a stay-at-home mom for the next five years. During the fall of 2003, Teresa was accepted into St. Mary’s University Law School. Through hard work and commitment, Teresa graduated with her Juris Doctorate Degree in May 2006. It was on the eve of her 40th birthday that she was informed she had passed the bar, thus earning the title of attorney.
Teresa has practiced exclusively Bankruptcy Law during her career. She worked in the San Antonio area before moving to Amarillo in December 2024. She has found a niche for herself where she can use her knowledge of the English language, math, and people skills to effect real change in people’s lives at a time when they desperately need her help.
